Samveda UNESCO Club

INTRODUCTION

Introduction:

UNESCO clubs are groups of people of all ages, from all walks of life, who share the UNESCO ideals and seek to disseminate them.  They associate themselves with and work for activities, which directly inspired UNESCO.  The UNESCO club movement grew spontaneously out of the enthusiasm and idealism of the people of several countries.  The first UNESCO club was set up in Sendai, Japan on July 19, 1973.  Today, UNESCO clubs have spread all over the world.

Although the clubs may assume different forms, they all have something in common - a strong belief in UNESCOs ideals as set forth in its constitution and a commitment to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  The function of a club may be summed up in three words: Training, Information and Action.

Samveda UNESCO club is a non-religious, non-sectarian group of people, which treats equally the members belonging to different caste, class, and creed.  Responsible citizens who wish to become members need to be introduced by a member of our club.  Publicity for personal gains in discouraged. A designation of office bearers is not a matter of prestige.  They are only meant to carry on routine activities and maintain discipline in the organization.  The club has a practice of raising funds for activities.  The club does not receive any grant or fund either from government or any other funding agency on a regular basis.  The expenditure of an activity is shared by the members or met by donation collected from general public / funding agencies.
